UPDATE April 2009: Despite your fantastic support, Sallycat’s Adventures didn’t make it through to the final of this competition. We were runners up in the Central and South America Region. However, I leave the original post here for the record. Here it is:
I know you’ve said you love me over and over again. Now I need you to show it.
Help make me the world’s best city blogger in the World Blogging Challenge 2009, from TheBloggersGuide.com and I’ll love you back. In buckets.
Here’s what I want you to do.
Go to www.thebloggersguide.com/the-bloggers.
Fast forward down to South and Central America and find your favourite little Sallycat in Buenos Aires. Stick your cursor on the fifth star – that’s the one on the right – until you see Top of the Class pop up. Hit the five stars! You’ll earn me stacks of points (100 a pop) and hopefully shoot me straight to the top of the pile. You don’t have to register or anything grim like that. You just have to click once. Easy.
When you’ve done that you can head over to my nominated list of blog posts (chosen by TheBloggersGuide.com) and give me extra points there by commenting or just by hitting the + button. If you can work out how to do it, I think you can even nominate other posts I’ve written. You might have to be really clever to manage that though…
In my dreams I make it to the top of the class and win $2500 USD in travel vouchers. Then I could zoom off on a new little Sallycat’s Adventure and tell you all about it. That would make me purr. Or I could bag a few nights in a hotel for Me and C. – heaven for young lovers like us.
Alas I’m playing catch up because the thing closes on the 16th March. That’s why I need you to do the love-verb thing today. That’s why I’m asking. And saying please.
Here’s the low down from TheBloggersGuide.com who will turn blog posts from city bloggers like me into guide books with a difference:
Tired of the same old information overload from guidebooks written by people who breezed into town for a free lunch? The Bloggers Guide is harnessing the power and the knowledge of the blogosphere to create a completely new type of city guides to be published both online and in paperback.
Our bloggers give you the inside track – they don’t do pages and pages of listings; rather, they make a few recommendations of what’s hot and what’s not. They would rather give give you a “feel” for the city, with some nuggets of inside information and pointers to start you on your way.
I reckon Sallycat’s Adventures is one of the great undiscovered inside tracks on Buenos Aires. Whether it’s been the quest for monedas, sex in a glass, where to dance on a Saturday night, or any one of a zillion little tips along the way, I’ve blogged it and you’ve read it. Maybe if I get recognised as a Top Blogger I’ll be able to fulfil one of my dreams and pass on my adventures to a few more travellers headed for Argentina.
Help me make my dreams come true guys. Then I’ll always have something to write about. For you.
Ta.

Hi Sally
Looks like you’re getting close to stardom – I tried to vote twice but the counter is too clever!
You might enjoy listening to Ricardo Arjona’s “Jesus no es verbo – es sustantivo”. It’s a wonderful song and a play on the title of your post.
Good luck
Jack

Hi Sally, that song I mentioned – sorry got the title wrong – “Jesus verbo no sustantivo” – makes sense love is an action not a word..
You might also like this song :

Hi again, hope the verb thing IS REALLY getting rolling now – like everybody says, you and your blog deserve it. Unfortunately I am not from Salta – I just happened to be there when I read your post…and yes how beautiful the North is!!! I am from Germany via Scotland and in BA at the moment…always wondering if I will spot you
– in which case I would love to say hello!
